♿ Wheelchair accessible

The Han-sur-Lesse experience centre lies just outside Rochefort and is one of the best-known natural attractions in Wallonia. From the village, visitors take a historic tram to the cave entrance, followed by an underground walk of nearly two kilometres and a return along the Lesse. Beyond the cave, there is also a wildlife reserve with native European species, explored by all-terrain vehicle.

Accessibility has been partly developed. The historic tram has an adapted wheelchair space that must be reserved in advance. Sadly, the cave itself is not visitable for most wheelchair users due to stairs and uneven ground — although a shortened adapted route is in development. The wildlife reserve, however, is well visitable: the safari bus is fitted with a wheelchair lift and stops at several observation points. The visitor centre, the restaurant and the car park are barrier-free. Adapted sanitary facilities are present in several spots.

Disabled parking spaces lie right next to the welcome building. Reserve at least a few days ahead to be sure of an adapted tram or safari place. Combine with a stay in accessible Rochefort centre, a terrace break in one of the brasseries in Han, or an outing to the nearby Domain of Chevetogne where extensive adapted recreation awaits.

Good to know

Reservation
**Reserve at least a few days in advance** — the adapted wheelchair space on the historic tram and on the safari bus is limited in number.
Busy and quiet times
Busiest in July and August, the Easter holidays and on public holidays. Outside school holidays on weekdays or in the early morning, the tram ride is much quieter.
Things to note
**The cave itself is not visitable for most wheelchair users** (stairs, uneven ground) — a shortened adapted route is in development. The wildlife-reserve bus does have a wheelchair lift and stops at observation points.
Visit tip
Visitor centre, restaurant and car park are fully step-free. Combine with the Domain of Chevetogne (extensive adapted recreation) or central Rochefort for a terrace break.
