Van der Valk Hotel Mechelen is a remarkable four-star hotel at Rode Kruisplein 1-4 in Mechelen, housed in the monumental building that served as the municipal swimming pool den Ouwen Dok from 1924 to 2001. The hotel opened in November 2019 and has beautifully preserved the original architectural elements: the large swimming pool has been transformed into an atmospheric pond in the lobby. The hotel features modern rooms, a restaurant, and conference facilities.

Accessibility at Van der Valk Hotel Mechelen is exemplary. The hotel has five specially adapted wheelchair-accessible rooms (four Poolview and one Superior) with spacious bathrooms featuring an open walk-in shower with shower seat and adapted toilet. All public areas are at ground level or accessible via spacious lifts. The Ouwen Dok restaurant is accessible via a dedicated lift. The entrance is step-free with wide automatic doors, and there is an adapted public toilet on the ground floor.

Van der Valk Hotel Mechelen is a stone's throw from the historic centre with St Rumbold's Cathedral and the Grote Markt. Mechelen station is a five-minute walk. The immediate surroundings are flat and paved. The hotel has its own underground car park with adapted spaces, directly connected to the hotel by lift.
