AB (Ancienne Belgique) Brussels
The Ancienne Belgique, AB for short, is one of the most legendary concert halls in Belgium. Located on Anspachlaan in the heart of Brussels, AB has been programming a mix of international top artists and rising talent across all music genres since its rebuild in the 1990s. The venue has a rich history dating back to 1937 and is a central place in Belgian concert culture. In addition to the main hall, there is a smaller club, a cafe and a terrace that are buzzing year round.
Accessibility has been thoroughly worked out. There is a ramp at the main entrance, and adapted lifts take you to all levels of the halls. In both the Main Hall and the Club, wheelchair spaces are available on raised platforms with a clear view of the stage and room for a companion. Adapted toilets are present on every level. Reserve your wheelchair space in advance via the ticket service, as capacity is limited.
Parking in the immediate area is difficult: it is best to use the disabled parking spaces in nearby underground car parks such as Grand Place or Anspach. The Bourse metro station is just minutes away on foot and has a lift. The walk from the metro or taxi to the entrance is fully paved, although some kerbs in the pedestrian zone can pose a challenge.
Good to know
- Reservation
- Reserve wheelchair spaces on the raised platform via the ticket service — capacity is limited and often sells out quickly for international acts.
- Busy and quiet times
- Busiest at sold-out Saturday-night concerts and festival series. Arrive 30 minutes early so staff can calmly guide you to the platform.
- Things to note
- The Main Hall and Club are both reachable by lift; the wheelchair platform offers a good view, but during standing-audience shows it gets crowded around you.
- Visit tip
- Bourse metro is the closest and has a lift. Disabled-parking spaces in the underground Anspach car park are more reliable than a street spot.
