♿ Wheelchair accessible

The Basiliek van Halle, officially the Sint-Martinusbasiliek, is an impressive Gothic church and one of the most important pilgrimage sites in Belgium. The basilica dates from the fourteenth century and houses the miraculous statue of Our Lady of Halle, which has attracted pilgrims for centuries. The interior is richly decorated with artworks, including a beautiful crypt and historic chapels. The basilica is a jewel of Gothic architecture in the Pajottenland region.

Accessibility at the basilica is partial. The main entrance has several steps, but an alternative access with a ramp is available on the side of the building. Once inside, the nave of the basilica is largely flat and offers space for a wheelchair. However, the crypt and some side chapels are not wheelchair accessible due to stairs. An adapted toilet is available nearby, though availability is limited.

The basilica is located on the Grote Markt of Halle, in the centre of the city. Accessible parking spaces are available on and around the square. Halle station is within a short walking distance. A visit to the basilica can be combined with a stroll through the historic centre and the nearby city park.
