Bosland Kattenbos
Bosland is the largest adventure forest in Flanders, spanning over 3,000 hectares across the municipalities of Lommel, Hechtel-Eksel and Peer in the Limburg Campine region. The Kattenbos area, on the edge of Lommel, features an excellent accessible walking trail that winds through a varied landscape of pine forests and open heathland. The path has been specially designed to give wheelchair users and visitors with limited mobility a full forest experience.
The accessible trail at Kattenbos is completely paved and flat, with no significant inclines or obstacles. The path is wide enough for wheelchairs and electric mobility scooters. At the starting point there is ample parking including designated PMR spaces. An adapted toilet is available, though it may not always be open outside busy periods — it is advisable to check with Bosland beforehand.
The Kattenbos starting point is easily reached by car via the N71 towards Lommel. Along the route you will find benches and rest areas where you can take a break. The forest is open year-round and is particularly beautiful in autumn when the heathland turns purple. For those seeking more adventure, Bosland also offers a lookout tower and various play elements, though not all of these are wheelchair accessible.
