♿ Wheelchair accessible

Resterheide is an expansive heathland area within the Bosland domain, located near Hechtel-Eksel in the Limburg Campine region. This area offers a unique landscape of purple heather, sand dunes and scattered tree clusters that recall the original Campine scenery. It is popular with walkers and nature lovers seeking the tranquillity and wide-open vistas of the heath.

The paths at Resterheide are mostly semi-paved, meaning that wheelchair use is possible but not equally comfortable everywhere. On dry days the paths are reasonably passable, but some sections can become muddy after rain. A sturdy wheelchair or an electric mobility scooter with wide tyres is recommended. There are no adapted toilets on site, so visitors should plan accordingly before arriving.

Parking is available at the entrance gate to Resterheide, with sufficient spaces. The area is freely accessible year-round. The most beautiful time to visit is from mid-August to mid-September, when the heather is in full bloom. From the car park you can take a shorter loop along the better-maintained paths. Note that the terrain is open and exposed, so bring plenty of water and sun protection in warm weather.
