♿ Wheelchair accessible

Cultuurcentrum Kasteel Walburg is housed in and around the historic castle in the heart of Sint-Niklaas. The cultural centre offers a diverse programme of theatre, dance, music, film, and exhibitions. With a large and a small hall, an exhibition space, and a welcoming café-restaurant, Kasteel Walburg is a cultural hotspot in the Waasland region. The castle itself is a beautiful piece of heritage surrounded by a small park.

Accessibility at Kasteel Walburg is good, although the historic character of the building brings some limitations. The main entrance is step-free and the main hall is fully wheelchair accessible with reserved wheelchair spaces. A lift is available to reach the different levels. Adapted toilets are available. However, some parts of the historic castle are more difficult to reach. It is advisable to mention that you use a wheelchair when booking.

The cultural centre is centrally located in Sint-Niklaas, within walking distance of the Grote Markt. Parking is available in the area with accessible spaces. Public transport is nearby, with bus stops within walking distance. A visit to Kasteel Walburg combines culture with the charm of a historic setting.

Good to know

Reservation
Reserve tickets online via the cultural centre's website and mention at booking that you are a wheelchair user, so a reserved space can be set aside.
Busy and quiet times
Busy periods follow the performance calendar; popular productions on Friday and Saturday evenings sell out quickly and reward early booking.
Things to note
The main hall is fully accessible by lift, but a few historic parts of the castle itself have thresholds or stairs that have not been adapted.
Visit tip
Park on the Grote Markt or in a central car park with accessible-parking spaces within walking distance; before and after the show, combine your visit perfectly with the castle's café-restaurant.
