Gare de Liege-Guillemins
Liege-Guillemins station, opened in 2009, was designed by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava. Its striking glass and steel roof spans the platforms like an enormous wave and has become one of the most photographed buildings in Belgium. The station serves as the main transport hub for the city of Liege and is a landmark in its own right.
The entire station has been designed with universal accessibility in mind. All platforms are reachable via lifts and escalators, and the ramps are generously proportioned. The floors are flat and paved, with no thresholds or obstacles. Adapted toilets are available in the station hall. Visually impaired visitors are assisted by tactile guide lines and acoustic signals.
Outside the station there is a large car park with reserved disabled bays. The bus stops in front of the station are also wheelchair accessible. The station is an ideal starting point for a visit to the city of Liege, with the Guillemins district and the Meuse river within walking distance.
