Malagne Archeoparc
Malagne Archeoparc is a unique open-air archaeology park in Rochefort, in the province of Namur. On the site of an authentic Gallo-Roman villa dating from the 1st to the 4th century, the park brings Roman agriculture and daily life to life. Visitors can explore Roman gardens, try out artisan techniques and take part in workshops on blacksmithing, pottery and Roman cooking. The park is surrounded by rolling Ardennes meadows and forests.
Accessibility at Malagne is partial. The main paths on the site are semi-paved, making wheelchair use possible but not equally comfortable everywhere, especially after rainfall. The central buildings, including the reception building and museum, are wheelchair accessible. Adapted toilets are available. Some outdoor activities and reconstructions are located on uneven terrain that is more challenging to reach by wheelchair.
The park is located on the edge of Rochefort and can be reached via the N86. A car park with PMR spaces is available. Malagne is open from April to October and regularly hosts themed weekends and events. A visit can be easily combined with a trip to nearby Han-sur-Lesse or the town of Rochefort. It is advisable to visit in dry weather for the best accessibility on the outdoor paths.
