Maison de la Pataphonie Dinant
The Maison de la Pataphonie is a unique experiential museum in the heart of Dinant, dedicated to pataphony: the art of making music with objects that were not intended as instruments. The museum invites visitors to make their own sounds with tubes, shells, glassware and all kinds of recycled material. It is a playful, surprising experience for young and old that fits in with the musical tradition of Dinant, birthplace of Adolphe Sax.
Accessibility is partial. The entrance has a small threshold that is bridged with a mobile ramp; request this in advance if needed. The main experience zones are at ground level and accessible for wheelchair users. Some adjoining rooms are only reachable via stairs. Adapted toilets are available in the museum.
The museum is located in a pedestrian zone in the centre of Dinant; parking at the door is not possible. PMR visitors can use the public car park on the Rue Daoust or the car park at the train station, a few hundred metres' walk along the paved riverside of the Meuse. The visit combines well with the Collegiate Church of Notre-Dame and the Maison Adolphe Sax.
