Park Spoor Oost Antwerp
Park Spoor Oost lies on the elongated former marshalling yard between Borgerhout and Deurne, wedged between the Singel and the railway lines to Antwerp-Oost station. It consists of a spacious paved square, large grass fields, a play and sports zone and a dog off-leash meadow. Since its redesign, the site has been a popular venue for events, sports and neighbourhood activities. The industrial atmosphere with sheds and old railway elements recalls the railway history of the place.
The park is markedly flat and almost entirely paved, which makes it an ideal place for wheelchair users. Wide asphalt paths and concrete tiles run throughout the site and the transitions between zones are step-free. The play zone is partly inclusively equipped and contains elements that are accessible to children with disabilities. Accessible toilets are available in the pavilion and during events.
Accessible parking spaces are located on Noordersingel and at Stenenbrug, both with direct access to the park. Antwerp-Oost station is a ten-minute roll away. Thanks to its openness and the good paving, Park Spoor Oost is an excellent place for a quiet wheelchair walk, especially outside busy event days.
