Hanami Brussels
Hanami is a long-established Japanese restaurant in central Brussels, well known for sushi, sashimi and warm Japanese classics served in a calm setting. It sits close to the main shopping streets and is a popular choice for a quiet lunch or a relaxed evening — not only for the food, but because the main dining room is fully step-free.
Accessibility is largely fine, with one important caveat. The street-side entrance is step-free or reached by a gentle ramp. The whole dining room is on the ground floor and table spacing comfortably allows a wheelchair through. Ordering, payment and service all happen without obstacles. What is missing — and it is a notable point — is an accessible toilet: all sanitary facilities are in the basement, reachable only via stairs. Visitors using a wheelchair or with reduced mobility are advised to plan their toilet visit before or after the meal at a nearby accessible public location.
Practically, Hanami is a few minutes from De Brouckère metro (lines 1 and 5, both with lift) and Brussels-Central station (lift-accessible). The restaurant has no parking of its own; use the underground car parks Grand-Place or Schippers, both with adapted spaces and a lift to street level. The visit combines well with the Grand-Place, the Musical Instruments Museum or the Royal Saint-Hubert Galleries (fully covered and step-free).
