Hotel Carbon is a striking design hotel in Genk that takes its name from the region's industrial mining past. The interior is a continuous nod to carbon, steel and energy: dark metals, leather, raw concrete and warm woods create a tough yet refined atmosphere. The hotel has a restaurant with a modern international menu, an extensive bar, a fitness room and a wellness centre with sauna and steam room.

The building is completely new and was designed with universal accessibility in mind. All shared ground-floor areas are step-free, and spacious lifts connect all floors. Several adapted rooms are available on different levels: they have a wide walk-in shower with fold-down seat, grab rails, a lowered washbasin and enough manoeuvring room. The breakfast buffet is at a lowered height and the staff are happy to help with service at the table.

Hotel Carbon is within walking distance of the exhibition complex, the centre of Genk and the C-Mine cultural site. The hotel car park has several PRM spaces with good access to the lift. The surrounding roads are modern and fully accessible. The hotel is an ideal base for trips to the Hoge Kempen National Park and the Winterslag mine site.

Good to know

Reservation
When booking, explicitly request an **adapted room** (several are available on different floors); list a roll-in shower, fold-down seat and turning room for an electric wheelchair as requirements.
Busy and quiet times
Trade fairs at the Jaarbeurs complex and festival weekends (Pukkelpop, Genk on Stage) are the most expensive; weekday bookings give better rates and a quieter lobby.
Things to note
Built accessible from the design stage: wide walk-in shower with fold-down seat, grab rails, lowered washbasin and plenty of manoeuvring room. Step-free shared spaces throughout.
