Hotel Den Anker Mechelen
Hotel Den Anker belongs to Brewery Het Anker, the historic city brewery behind the famous Gouden Carolus beer. The hotel is housed in a renovated warehouse on the Dijle, right next to the brewery and within walking distance of the Grote Markt and St Rumbold's Cathedral. Guests can combine a brewery tour with a stay in a unique heritage setting.
One ground-floor room is fully adapted for wheelchair users, with a wide door, a lowered bed, a walk-in shower with fold-down seat and grab rails. The main entrance is step-free with a gentle ramp. The adjoining brewery restaurant is on the ground floor and fully accessible, including an accessible guest toilet. The upper floors of this historic building are reachable by lift, but the number of adapted rooms is limited.
Parking is available in the hotel car park with a few reserved spaces. The Mechelen city centre has cobbles and tram rails; plan your route via the accessible Dijlepad for a comfortable approach to the Grote Markt. The brewery tour is partially wheelchair-accessible; when booking, explicitly request an adapted itinerary.
