The Municipal Museums of Mechelen form a network of cultural venues showcasing the history and artistic past of the city. Visitors can see paintings from the Golden Age, historic objects and temporary exhibitions. The museums are housed in restored historic buildings that have been carefully adapted to contemporary museum standards. The programme changes regularly and includes family activities, guided tours and educational workshops.

The main entrances of the museums are barrier-free, often via a gentle ramp or automatic door. Lifts and platform lifts connect the various floors, so that all major rooms are accessible to wheelchair users. Adapted toilets are present in the reception areas. The passages between rooms are wide enough, and wheelchairs can be borrowed on request.

The surroundings of Mechelen have mostly paved pavements; the historic centre contains cobblestones in places, for which adapted routes are available. Adapted parking spaces are provided in the public Grote Markt and Zandpoort car parks, both within a short wheelchair distance. Visitors with a European Disability Card often receive free or discounted admission; check the current arrangements per museum.
