Le Jardin de la Gourmandise Mons
Le Jardin de la Gourmandise is an intimate restaurant in a side street of the Grand Place of Mons. The building dates from the 18th century and blends authentic elements such as an old mantelpiece and wrought-iron details with a modern, bright interior. The kitchen team focuses on a seasonal menu with Belgian products and subtle French influences. Well-known dishes include a variation on tournedos Rossini with Walloon mushrooms, and spring desserts with Hainaut strawberries.
The restaurant was recently adapted for accessibility. The main entrance has a portable ramp that bridges the threshold of a few centimetres, and the ground-floor room is large enough for wheelchair users. The accessible toilet is on the same level. A small cellar floor with wine storage is not accessible, but plays no role in the guest experience.
The restaurant is in a pedestrian zone, which makes the approach comfortable but slightly complex: the route across the cobbles of the Grand-Place requires some care. The underground car park beneath the Grand Place has a lift and an accessible space. A visit to Le Jardin de la Gourmandise combines well with a wheelchair stroll along the accessible part of the Unesco belfry of Mons.
