Circuit Natur'Accessible de Bon-Secours
The Circuit Natur'Accessible de Bon-Secours is a purpose-built accessible nature trail located at the edge of the Bon-Secours forest in the province of Hainaut, near the French border. This approximately 1-kilometre loop trail takes visitors through a beautiful section of a Natura 2000 protected area, allowing wheelchair users and visitors with limited mobility to experience the rich biodiversity of this remarkable woodland.
The trail is Access-i certified and has been carefully designed with accessibility in mind from the outset. The path surface is paved and level, suitable for all types of wheelchairs and pushchairs. Along the route, educational modules have been installed at wheelchair height, providing information about the local flora, fauna, and ecology of the forest ecosystem. These interactive stations make the walk both informative and engaging for visitors of all ages and abilities.
Practical facilities include adapted toilet amenities and designated PMR parking spaces near the trailhead. The gentle, flat terrain and short distance make this an ideal outing for those seeking a relaxed nature experience without steep gradients or difficult surfaces. The forest is particularly pleasant in spring, when wildflowers carpet the woodland floor, and in autumn, when the foliage transforms into vivid shades of gold and amber. Bon-Secours is easily reached by car from Tournai or Mons, making it a perfect half-day excursion into Walloon nature.
