Chimay Brewery Visitor Centre
The Espace Chimay is the visitor centre of the world-famous Chimay Trappist brewery in the hamlet of Baileux, a few kilometres from the town of Chimay. The site was specifically developed to let visitors discover the history and production process of Chimay beers through a modern exhibition. At the back is the Poteaupré brewery-brasserie, where you can taste the beers together with the famous Chimay cheeses.
The building is recent and has been designed to be fully accessible. The main entrance, the museum trail and the brasserie are all on ground level or reachable by a wheelchair lift. The multimedia panels are at accessible height and audio guides are offered with subtitles. Accessible toilets are provided both in the museum and in the brasserie, with support bars, lowered washbasins and ample turning space.
The large car park is paved and has several reserved spaces close to the entrance. Around the site are paved walking paths leading to nearby meadows and water springs. The brasserie has an accessible terrace with views over the fields. Combine your visit with the nearby Château de Chimay for a full day out in the Botte du Hainaut.
