Brouwerij Dubuisson Pipaix
Brouwerij Dubuisson in Pipaix, part of the municipality of Leuze-en-Hainaut, traces its origins to 1769 and is the oldest brewery in Wallonia. The brewery is famous for its strong Bush beer, also known as Scaldis, a typically Belgian top-fermented beer with an alcohol content of up to 12%. The Beer Experience visitor centre offers a modern interactive tour through the history and brewing traditions of the Dubuisson family, concluding with a tasting of the characteristic strong beers.
The new experience centre is modern and well suited to wheelchair users. The entrance is flat, the ground-floor exhibition areas are step-free and the tasting room is spaciously laid out. The tour within the brewery itself, through the historic buildings, has a few thresholds and uneven spots; the guide can suggest an adapted route or show certain parts on video. An accessible toilet is available in the visitor centre.
Generous parking with accessible spaces is provided next to the visitor centre. Pipaix lies along the N7 between Ath and Tournai and is easy to reach by car. In addition to the brewery tour, visitors can also stop at the Trolls & Bush brasserie opposite the brewery, where beer-based dishes are served in a cosy, accessible setting.
