♿ Wheelchair accessible

Rixensart Castle is an impressive Renaissance ensemble situated in the heart of a preserved green area in Rixensart, in the province of Walloon Brabant. The castle dates from the 16th and 17th centuries and was for centuries the property of the noble de Merode family. With its elegant facades, inner courtyard and extensive gardens, it ranks among the finest castle estates in Walloon Brabant. The castle serves as a venue for changing cultural events and exhibitions.

Accessibility on the estate is partial. The gardens and park are largely accessible to wheelchair users, with paved and well-maintained paths. Parking spaces are reserved for persons with reduced mobility. During events and exhibitions, adapted facilities are generally provided, including PMR toilets. The interior of the castle itself may have limitations due to the historic character of the building, depending on the type of event. If in doubt, contact the organisers beforehand.

Rixensart Castle is located at Rue de l'Eglise 40 in Rixensart, on the border of Brussels and Walloon Brabant, and is easily reached via the E411 or by train (Rixensart or Genval station). The estate is near the Lake of Genval, a pleasant spot for a walk. A visit can be combined with a trip to Louvain-la-Neuve or a walk through the nearby Sonian Forest.
