Cafe du Centre Rixensart
Cafe du Centre is a typical Walloon Brabant village cafe on the market square of Rixensart, near the castle and the local school. The establishment has the traditional feel of a neighbourhood cafe, with a long counter, a billiard table in the back room and a regular clientele who gather there in the afternoon. The menu features simple but tasty lunches such as croque-monsieurs, soup of the day and regional dishes, accompanied by an extensive selection of Brabant and Trappist beers.
The entrance is step-free and wide enough for a wheelchair. The front room and the bar area are at ground level with sufficient manoeuvring space. The toilet is at the rear of the establishment and reachable without steps, but the door is narrow and not specifically adapted. The staff are warm and welcoming and will gladly set up a table at the front during busier times.
The car park across the square has a few adapted spaces, and street parking is available in the immediate vicinity. Rixensart station, a six-minute walk away, is partially accessible via the side exit. A walk to the castle park, whose main paths are largely paved, makes for a pleasant continuation after coffee.
