Neptune Caves
The Neptune Caves are located near Petigny in the municipality of Couvin, in the province of Namur. These natural caves were carved into Devonian limestone and are still traversed by a branch of the Eau Noire river, which rushes through the cave before resurfacing several kilometres away. Visitors can explore the first three hundred metres of the caves, partly on foot and partly by boat, creating a unique underground experience. The outdoor grounds also offer a playground and mini-golf in a green setting.
Wheelchair accessibility is partial. The outdoor area with playground and picnic spots is reachable via semi-paved paths. The caves themselves, however, are difficult to access for wheelchair users due to stairs at the entrance and uneven surfaces inside the cave. The boat ride is not suitable for wheelchair users. Adapted restrooms are available at the reception building. Accessible parking spaces are located in the car park.
The Neptune Caves are situated in the Ardennes and are most easily reached by car via the N5 towards Couvin. The nearest train station is Couvin, from which a taxi or bus is needed. A visit combines well with a walk in the Eau Noire valley or a visit to the nearby Viroinval area.
