Lorette Cave - Rochefort
The Lorette Cave is a spectacular cave located in Rochefort, in the province of Namur. The cave descends 60 metres below the surface and is famous for its underground river, the Lomme, and its impressive chamber known as the 'Sabbath Hall'. Recently renovated, the site features a new above-ground pavilion with interactive exhibitions on tectonic phenomena and the geological formation of the caves.
Please note: the underground cave tour is not accessible for wheelchair users due to over 600 steps along the route. However, the above-ground pavilion with its film room and interactive exhibition is wheelchair accessible, with step-free access and adapted toilets. PMR parking spaces are available. The pavilion offers a rich audiovisual and multimedia experience that brings the beauty of the cave to life even for visitors who cannot make the descent.
The Lorette Cave is situated in the centre of Rochefort, a charming small town in the Famenne region, and is reached via the N86 or the E411. A visit can be combined with a stroll through Rochefort, a visit to the nearby Trappist brewery of Rochefort or a trip to the Domaine de Chevetogne. The cave is open from February to November and guided tours depart at set times.
