Sterrebeek Hippodrome
The Sterrebeek Hippodrome is one of the largest horse racing tracks in Belgium and is located in the municipality of Zaventem, just outside Brussels. The site combines a trotting track and gallop track with large grandstands, a restaurant and conference facilities. During the racing seasons, several race days take place that also attract families and casual spectators with side entertainment and hospitality.
Accessibility is well organised: there is a spacious, flat car park with reserved PMR spaces close to the main entrance. The circulation areas around the grandstands are paved and flat, and adapted toilets are available on the ground floor of the pavilion. From the restaurant and the covered grandstand, you have a clear view of the finish line from a wheelchair. The staff are accustomed to visitors with reduced mobility and are happy to help with access controls and betting offices.
Outside of race days, the site is used for fairs, children's activities and events, making it a lively destination even outside the racing season. The hippodrome is easily reached by car via the Brussels Ring; public transport runs to the centre of Sterrebeek, after which a short ride with adapted transport is needed.
