Lac de Warfaaz Spa
The Lac de Warfaaz is a friendly artificial lake in the woods east of Spa, formed from an old peat depression and popular as a day-trip destination since the early twentieth century. The lake is surrounded by wooded slopes and offers a quiet atmosphere that contrasts with the livelier centre of Spa. On the lakeshore are a tearoom, a trampoline park for children and a pedalo rental. It is one of the few places in the High Fens region where you can relax by the water in an easily reachable setting.
Accessibility is good. A level paved walking loop of about a kilometre runs around the lake and is comfortable for a wheelchair or rollator. The surface is a mix of asphalt and solid dolomite, well-maintained and free of major obstacles. The tearoom on the eastern side has a step-free entrance and a wheelchair-friendly terrace with a direct view over the water. An accessible toilet is located next to the tearoom.
The car park sits a few dozen metres from the shore and has accessible spaces. From the centre of Spa the lake is ten minutes away by car. For anyone looking for a quieter alternative to the better-known Lac de Genval or Lac de Bambois, Warfaaz offers a pleasant option in a more Ardennes-style setting.
