Médiacité Liège
Médiacité in Liège is an iconic shopping and entertainment complex designed by the British architect Ron Arad. The striking building with its wavy, colourful roofs opened in 2009 and houses more than a hundred shops, a cinema, the RTBF studios and an ice rink. The centre is regarded as a modern architectural highlight in Wallonia.
The shopping centre is fully wheelchair-accessible. All shops and places to eat can be reached step-free via wide corridors. Lifts and escalators connect the different levels. Adapted toilets are available on every floor. Wheelchairs can be borrowed free of charge at the reception. The ice rink has an adapted entrance; on request, it is possible for wheelchair users to enjoy the rink.
A large underground car park offers more than 2,000 spaces, including spacious reduced-mobility spaces close to the lifts. Médiacité is also reachable by TEC bus lines 4 and 140; both are equipped with low-floor buses for wheelchair users. The Longdoz district where the centre is located has recently been thoroughly renewed with wide, accessible pavements.
