Royal Museum of Mariemont

The Royal Museum of Mariemont, located in Morlanwelz in the province of Hainaut, is one of Wallonia's most impressive cultural destinations. The museum houses exceptional collections of antiquities from Egypt, Greece, and Rome, alongside fine porcelain, regional history exhibits, and an extensive library. Set within a magnificent 45-hectare English-style landscaped park, the estate offers a unique combination of world-class art and tranquil green spaces.

Accessibility has been a key focus at Mariemont. The museum is Access-i certified, ensuring a reliable standard of wheelchair accessibility throughout. An elevator provides access to all floors, with door widths of 1.28 metres and a capacity of 1,500 kg, comfortably accommodating all types of wheelchairs and mobility scooters. Free wheelchairs are available for loan at the reception desk, and adapted toilet facilities are provided inside the museum.

The surrounding park features paved pathways suitable for wheelchair users, winding through manicured lawns, mature trees, and open-air sculptures. Designated accessible parking spaces are located close to the museum entrance. The park is open year-round and free to enter, making it an excellent destination in any season. Spring and autumn are particularly beautiful, when the parkland is at its most colourful.
