Natuurpunt Moerenhof Elversele
Natuurpunt Moerenhof in Elversele covers a valuable polder landscape of reed beds, wet grasslands and small woodlands. The area is an important resting and breeding ground for waterbirds and amphibians, and during the growing season the flowering meadows display orchids. Thanks to its extensive walking infrastructure, Moerenhof is a popular destination for nature lovers from the Waasland and beyond.
An adapted walking route with a paved, barrier-free surface crosses the area and leads to several bird hides equipped with adapted access ramps. The route is suitable for wheelchairs, mobility scooters and prams. A visitor area with information panels and a covered resting place is barrier-free, as is an adapted toilet with grab rails and plenty of turning space.
There is a spacious car park with adapted parking spaces right next to the main entrance of the area. The paved paths are well maintained and remain usable in wet weather. Adapted picnic tables with sufficient knee clearance are available. Access to the reserve is free and possible from sunrise to sunset.
