♿ Wheelchair accessible

The Opéra Royal de Wallonie is the main opera house of Wallonia and, together with La Monnaie in Brussels and the Vlaamse Opera, one of Belgium's three national opera houses. The building, located on the Place de l'Opéra in the centre of Liège, was thoroughly renovated in 2012 with attention to both acoustics and universal accessibility. The Liège opera has an international reputation for its lyric repertoire and Baroque productions.

Accessibility for wheelchair users is well organised, with a step-free main entrance on the Place de l'Opéra and lifts that lead to the auditorium, the intermission foyer and the catering areas. Wheelchair places are at fixed positions in the auditorium — when booking, you can ask which viewpoints are available for the specific performance. Accessible toilets are present on the ground floor and the intermission foyer.

For anyone who wants to combine an opera or ballet visit with an evening out, the Opéra is centrally located in Liège — a few minutes' walk from the Place Saint-Lambert and numerous step-free brasseries. Liège-Guillemins station, fully accessible with 24/7 assistance, can be reached via a short low-floor tram ride. Accessible parking is available in the nearby public car park. An accessible Liège city trip ends beautifully with an opera performance.

Good to know

Reservation
For opera/ballet performances, reserve a **wheelchair seat at least 2 weeks in advance** via the box office or the website. Seats are limited in number and very sought-after. Companion ticket at a discounted rate.
Busy and quiet times
Production premieres and the festive season (Christmas, New Year, Whitsun) are the busiest and most expensive. Weekday matinees or performances in May-June offer a quieter experience and better ticket availability.
Things to note
Step-free main entrance via the Place de l'Opéra. Lift to the auditorium and intermission foyer. Wheelchair places are at fixed positions — not all viewing angles available. Accessible toilet on the ground floor and first floor.
Visit tip
Combine with dinner at a nearby restaurant on [Place Saint-Lambert](/en/locaties/cathedrale-saint-lambert-luik/) — a few minutes' walk away. **Liège-Guillemins station (24/7 assistance)** is a short tram ride away via low-floor tram.
