Café Le Pot au Lait Liège
Le Pot au Lait is an institution in Liège, a legendary café in the university district where students, artists and visitors have been meeting for decades. The interior is striking with wall paintings, colourful furniture and a pleasant clutter that appeals to every regular. The beer list is an ode to Belgian brewing tradition, with more than a hundred specialty beers and a rotating selection of artisanal brews.
The main entrance is step-free and leads straight into the ground-floor café space with enough room to take a seat at a table or at the bar in a wheelchair. Staff will reserve a table in the central space on request, where there is the most manoeuvring room. A toilet is available, but due to the character of the historic building the space is limited; grab rails are fitted, but the turning area is tighter than in modern venues.
The café lies in the busy nightlife district of Le Carré with a mix of paved and tiled streets. Parking is possible at Parking Saint-Denis or Opéra a few minutes' roll away. The route from Liège-Guillemins station requires a bus or taxi, but once in the centre the streets around the café are level and paved.
