Rive Gauche Charleroi
Rive Gauche is the most important shopping centre in Charleroi and opened in 2017 as the centrepiece of the urban renewal on the left bank of the Sambre. The modern complex has more than 80 shops, dozens of restaurants and a large Carrefour. The building is designed as an extension of the city's shopping streets, with passages and skylights.
The shopping centre is fully accessible to wheelchair users. All floors are reachable via lifts and wide escalators, and the corridors are generous enough for electric wheelchairs. Adapted toilets can be found on every floor. Wheelchairs can be borrowed free of charge at the reception. Staff have been trained to assist visitors with a disability in a targeted way.
Rive Gauche is excellently served by public transport: the Beaux-Arts metro stop is just a few metres away and is equipped with lifts. For those arriving by car, more than a thousand parking spaces are available in the underground car park, including adapted reduced-mobility spaces close to the lifts. The city streets around the centre have recently been renewed and made more accessible.
