The site of the Fort de Boncelles lies in Seraing, south of Liege, and is part of the belt of twelve forts designed by engineer Brialmont around 1890 to defend the city. The fort played an important role in the Battle of Liege in August 1914 and stands today as a memorial to the resistance of the Liege forts during the First World War. Outside the ramparts are commemorative monuments and an educational trail.

Accessibility of the site is partial. The outdoor area with the memorials and the central square can be reached via a semi-paved path suitable for wheelchair users. The fort building itself contains narrow corridors and steep stairs, so the interior is not wheelchair accessible. The open-air surroundings of the fort, with information panels and views of the fortifications, form the most accessible part of the visit.

A free car park with disabled parking spaces lies along the access road. Accessible toilets are available during opening days and events. For those interested in Liege's wartime history, Boncelles offers a contemplative memorial site providing valuable context to the events of 1914.
