Sporting Charleroi matches in a wheelchair — visit Stade du Pays de Charleroi
The Stade du Pays de Charleroi is the home stadium of Sporting Charleroi, one of the stalwarts of Belgian top-flight football. The stadium was opened in 2001 ahead of the European Football Championship and has a capacity of around 15,000 spectators. It was designed with modern facilities for spectators, players and press, and also hosts concerts and other large-scale events. Around the stadium lies a spacious public area with walking paths and sports fields.
Accessibility was carefully designed from the outset. The main entrances are fully barrier-free, and specifically reserved zones for wheelchair users are located at strategic places in the stadium with a good view of the pitch. These zones are reached via wide corridors and lifts. Adapted toilets are available in every sector of the stadium. For events, a reserved spot for wheelchair users can be requested in advance, with a free companion ticket.
The stadium has an extensive car park with several dozen PRM spaces near the entrances. Public transport is provided via TEC bus lines, with stops within walking distance. The surroundings of the stadium are fully paved and level, ensuring comfortable access. In addition to football matches, the stadium regularly hosts major events such as concerts and conferences, always while maintaining full accessibility.
