♿ Wheelchair accessible

The Etterbeek campus of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel lies in the southeast of Brussels and is freely accessible to visitors. Among the university buildings are squares, artworks, a sports complex and the Kultuurkaffee cultural centre. The campus also houses student residences, a library and the renowned Aula Q, which regularly opens to the public.

The public paths between the buildings are wide, flat and paved, allowing wheelchair users to move easily across the campus. Most university buildings are barrier-free and equipped with lifts. Accessible toilets are available in the central buildings and in the library. The green areas between the buildings, with paths through lawns and trees, form a quiet spot in the middle of the city.

Visitor car parks with disabled parking spaces are available at several entrances to the campus. The campus is well served by public transport: Petillon metro station and the VUB tram stop are just a few minutes wheelchair distance away. The campus shows how a modern university can combine public and cultural functions in an accessible whole.
