Zimmermuseum Lier
The Zimmermuseum is a unique museum in Lier, dedicated to the work of Louis Zimmer, the famous Lier-born clockmaker and astronomer. The main attraction is the Zimmertoren on the Zimmerplein, with the astronomical clock containing twelve dials that represent the universe in miniature. The museum also displays the Wonderklok (Wonder Clock), a masterpiece of mechanical precision. The Zimmermuseum is a fascinating destination for anyone with an interest in science, technology, and craftsmanship.
The accessibility of the Zimmermuseum is partial. The museum section on the ground floor is wheelchair accessible with a step-free entrance. The Zimmertoren itself, however, is not accessible for wheelchair users due to the narrow staircase. The Wonderklok can be viewed from a wheelchair. An adapted toilet is available. The Zimmerplein surrounding the museum is flat and paved.
The museum is located on the Zimmerplein in the centre of Lier. Accessible parking spaces are available on the square and in the nearby area. Lier train station is within walking distance. The Zimmerplein is a pleasant spot to enjoy a terrace by the Nete river after your museum visit.
