Hotel Martin's Waterloo
Martin's Waterloo is a four-star hotel from the Belgian Martin's hotel chain, set in a green area on the edge of Waterloo, just minutes from the battlefield and the Lion. The hotel has a spacious lobby, a restaurant offering international cuisine, a bar and a full-service wellness centre with swimming pool, sauna and fitness facilities. The rooms are modern and primarily designed for the comfort of business and tourist guests.
Accessibility is consistently implemented across all Martin's properties. The main entrance has automatic sliding doors and is fully step-free. Reception is broadly furnished and the corridors, lifts and communal areas are spaciously designed. The hotel has two specifically adapted rooms with a roll-in shower, alarm cords, grab bars around the raised toilet and a lower line of sight onto the manoeuvring area. The breakfast room has tables that are easily accessible.
The wellness centre is partially accessible: the swimming pool has a hoist for people with reduced mobility and the relaxation areas are step-free; the sauna and steam room are however reachable without a lift. The car park has several reserved spaces and is directly connected to reception via a flat paved route.
Good to know
- Reservation
- When booking, explicitly state that you need a wheelchair-accessible room; the number of adapted rooms is limited (typically 2-3) and online filters are not always reliable.
- Busy and quiet times
- Busiest during weekday business conferences and during events at the Waterloo battlefield. Best prices on weekends outside school holidays and in January-February.
- Things to note
- Adapted rooms are on the ground floor and first floor (via lift). The restaurant on level 0 is step-free; the bar in the basement is reached via stairs.
- Visit tip
- Ask for a garden-side room for quieter nights. A short drive from the Memorial 1815 (largely wheelchair-accessible since 2015) and the Butte du Lion.
