The Centre de la Metallurgie near Bouillon tells the story of historic iron and metalworking in the Ardennes. The Semois valley and the forests around Bouillon were for centuries an important centre for forges and blast furnaces, thanks to the abundance of wood, water and iron ore. The heritage site combines an indoor museum, restored technical installations and a walking trail that takes visitors through the production chain. Models, multimedia and original tools bring the past to life.

The indoor museum is fully step-free accessible. The entrance has a generous ramp, a lift connects the levels and the exhibition halls have wide aisles. The outdoor trails are partly paved and partly semi-paved with gravel; in dry weather they are well navigable for wheelchair users, with some assistance on the inclines. An accessible toilet and a rest area are available on site.

A spacious car park with accessible spaces is located next to the site, a few minutes drive from Bouillon Castle. From the centre of Bouillon you follow the Semois downstream. Combining the visit with the Chateau de Bouillon, the Musee Ducal or a wheelchair-accessible walk along the river makes this a rich day trip in the Belgian Ardennes.
