Cosmodrome Genk
The Cosmodrome is a fascinating space centre located at Kattevennen, one of the six gateways to the Hoge Kempen National Park in Genk. In the spectacular 360-degree cinema hall, visitors are taken on a virtual journey through the universe. The Cosmodrome also offers changing exhibitions on space travel and astronomy. Kattevennen itself is a beautiful nature and recreation area with a planet trail connecting the Europlanetarium to the surrounding natural area.
Wheelchair accessibility is good. Reserved seating for wheelchair users is available in the 360-degree cinema hall. All passageways are also accessible for wider electric wheelchairs. A lift provides easy access to the exhibition, the 360-degree film hall and the brasserie. The observatory is unfortunately not accessible for wheelchairs as there is no lift in that part of the building, but an adapted viewer can be made available upon request on the observation platform.
The visitor reception at Kattevennen has received an A label from Tourism Flanders for accessibility. People with an EU disability card enjoy benefits at the Cosmodrome and can take advantage of group discounts when visiting a 360-degree show. The domain has spacious car parks with disabled parking spaces. With its combination of space exploration and nature, the Cosmodrome is a unique destination in Limburg.
