Animal and Aviary Park Maaseik
The Animal and Aviary Park of Maaseik is a small but charming animal park managed by the town, with peacocks, parrots, rabbits, llamas and small livestock. The park was laid out as a freely accessible educational space where families with children and grandparents can refresh themselves within short walking distance of the town centre. The scale is deliberately small and homely, making it a pleasant outing for anyone who does not want to spend a whole day walking.
The paths are paved with concrete and flat, so the park is fully wheelchair accessible. The large aviaries are at accessible heights so visitors in wheelchairs can observe the birds without any issue. Several benches are scattered across the grounds. Accessible toilets are available within walking distance in the town park or on the Maaseik Markt.
The car park in front of the park has reserved spaces. The surrounding neighbourhood is flat and paved, and lends itself to a quiet extension of the visit towards the historic centre of Maaseik. You can optionally combine your visit with a walk through the adjacent town park or with a stop at the Regional Archaeological Museum. Admission to the animal park is free.
