De Stille Oceaan Lommel
De Stille Oceaan in Lommel is a beloved recreational lake in the Limburg Kempen, formed in a former sand quarry. The lake is known for its strikingly clear water, surrounded by pine forest and sandy beaches. In the summer months swimming is permitted in a marked zone with lifeguards. On the site you will find a beach bar, picnic spots and walking paths circling the lake. The combination of sandy beach, clear water and quiet nature draws both families and nature lovers.
Accessibility is partial. The car park and the approach to the main beach are paved and easy to navigate. The walking paths around the lake are partly semi-paved, partly unpaved and can feel bumpy in places due to loose sand. Especially for wheelchair users, the beach bar has a paved zone running right up to the water's edge so you can get close to the swimming area. A temporary beach chair or beach wheelchair can be borrowed in high season at the lifeguard post. An accessible toilet is located in the sanitary building near the beach bar.
De Stille Oceaan is free of charge but the car park is paid in summer. Accessible spaces are closest to the main entrance. Lommel is reached via the E34 and offers many other green attractions, including the Lommel Glass Museum. The lake is at its quietest on weekdays or in the shoulder seasons.
