The Groeningepark is a historic city park in Kortrijk, on or near the site of the Battle of the Golden Spurs in 1302. The park is laid out as a monumental green space featuring the famous Groeningemeerminne statue commemorating the battle. Old trees, flower beds and quiet paths make it a pleasant place for a walk and a pause.

The main paths through the park are paved and level, so the Groeningepark is easy to access for wheelchair users and people with rollators. There are plenty of benches along the paths. Public toilets are not in the park itself, but are available in nearby cafés and public buildings.

Parking is possible in the surrounding streets and nearby car parks, with accessible spaces available. The park is within walking distance of the centre and pairs perfectly with a visit to the Broelmuseum or the Grote Markt.

Good to know

Reservation
The park is public and free to visit without reservation; for commemorative ceremonies around the Battle of the Golden Spurs (11 July), check the city programme.
Busy and quiet times
On sunny weekends the park is a popular spot for walks; weekday mornings and afternoons stay quiet with more space around the monuments.
Things to note
The main paths are level and paved, with good rollability; there is no public toilet in the park, so use the adapted toilets in the nearby hospitality venues or public buildings.
Visit tip
Combine a walk with a visit to the Broelmuseum or the Grote Markt of Kortrijk, both within walking distance with adapted accessible-parking spaces nearby.
