Malmundarium
The Malmundarium is the cultural heart of Malmedy, housed in the former monastery of Malmedy dating from the 7th century. This impressive complex houses several museums and exhibition spaces under one roof: a museum about the famous Carnival of Malmedy, an exhibition on tanning, a paper museum, and changing expositions. It is a versatile destination that illuminates the rich history and culture of the town and the region.
Following a thorough restoration, the Malmundarium is excellently accessible for wheelchair users. The complex features step-free entrances, lifts to all floors, and wide corridors. The exhibition spaces are spacious and clearly arranged. Adapted toilets are available at multiple locations. The information desk is placed at an accessible height.
The Malmundarium is located in the centre of Malmedy, on the Place du Châtelet. Parking is available in the immediate area, including reserved spaces for persons with reduced mobility. Malmedy is reachable by car via the E42 and by bus. A visit to the Malmundarium can be combined with a walk through the picturesque town centre.
