Memorial National Wallon Namur
The Memorial National Wallon stands at the foot of the Namur citadel, at the confluence of the Sambre and the Meuse. The monument was erected in the twentieth century as a symbol of Walloon identity and is an important place for commemorations, official ceremonies and the annual Fete de la Wallonie. It consists of a sober stone pylon with inscriptions and heraldic motifs referring to the Walloon provinces.
The surroundings of the monument are fully paved and flat, making it easy to reach with a wheelchair or rolling walker. From the laid-out promenade along the Sambre, you can roll up to the foot of the pylon without slopes. Adapted toilets are not present at the site itself, but the visitor facilities of the citadel and the Namur tourist office lie a few hundred metres away.
PMR parking spaces are available along the nearby Avenue Baron Louis Huart and at the Esplanade car park. A visit to the Memorial combines perfectly with a walk along the Sambre quay, the citadel, and the historic centre of Namur, which with its pedestrian zones is largely wheelchair accessible.
