Mons Memorial Museum
The Mons Memorial Museum, opened in 2015, tells the military history of Mons and the surrounding region. The modern museum, housed in a renovated historic building, highlights both World Wars with particular attention to the Battle of Mons in 1914 and the Liberation in 1944. Multimedia installations, personal testimonies and authentic objects bring the story to life.
The museum is fully wheelchair accessible. All floors can be reached by lift and the passageways are wide. Interactive installations are placed at varying heights. Adapted toilets are available and the museum offers audio guides. The reception staff are particularly helpful for visitors with a disability.
Accessible parking spaces are available at the nearby Place du Parc. The museum is located in the centre of Mons, within walking distance of the Grand Place and the Belfry. It combines excellently with a city walk through this cultural capital of Wallonia.
