Natuurpunt De Kaaihoeve Zingem
Natuurpunt De Kaaihoeve in Zingem is a nature reserve along the Scheldt known for its varied landscape of water meadows, reed beds and old meanders of the river. The area is an important rest stop for migrating birds and offers spectacular bird-watching in spring and autumn. A visitor centre informs guests about local fauna, flora and the history of the Scheldt valley.
One of the main walks has been laid out with a paved, step-free surface suitable for wheelchairs, scooters and prams. The route runs past viewpoints and bird hides, some of which have an adapted entrance with a ramp. The visitor space is step-free accessible via a gentle ramp, and an adapted toilet with grab bars and ample turning space is provided. Staff are known for their willingness to help.
The dedicated car park has accessible parking spaces close to the main entrance of the visitor centre. The paved paths are also suitable for visitors with a visual impairment thanks to clear markings. Adapted bicycle and handbike hire is available on request through a local partner. Access to the reserve is free, as is parking.
