♿ Wheelchair accessible

The Nieuwstraat (Rue Neuve) is one of the busiest shopping streets in Belgium. The car-free shopping boulevard runs between La Monnaie and the Rogierplein and hosts dozens of major retail chains, fashion shops, and department stores such as Inno and FNAC. Halfway along you will find the large covered shopping centre City 2, with four floors full of shops and hospitality.

The street is completely car-free and level paved, ideal for wheelchair users and families with prams. The Nieuwstraat is continuously wide and step-free. In City 2 the entrances are automatic and level, and spacious lifts take you to all floors. Adapted toilets can be found in the shopping centre and in Inno. Benches are set up at regular distances in the street.

The Nieuwstraat is excellently reachable by public transport: Rogier and De Brouckère metro stations are both accessible with a lift. Brussels-North Station is a five-minute walk away. Disabled parking spaces are available in the City 2 and Monnaie car parks. The street is pleasant to combine with a visit to La Monnaie or the Sainte-Catherine district.
