Spelewei Play Park Maaseik
Spelewei play park in Maaseik is a welcoming play area spread over several hectares along the bank of the Meuse. The park combines a large playground with a water garden, a maze and an extensive picnic field. Both toddlers and primary-school children find plenty to enjoy. For children with disabilities a few adapted devices are provided, including a wheelchair swing and a low sand table. The park is a popular outing for families from the Meuse region and the neighbouring Dutch border area.
The paths in Spelewei are partly paved and partly built in semi-paved dolomite. The main route from the car park to the central play meadow is easily passable for a wheelchair or buggy, even in changing weather. The area around the water garden can become muddy after rain. At the entrance there is a service building with an accessible toilet and a small cafeteria with a terrace. Benches at the central play meadow are sheltered by old willows.
Entry is free and the park is open year-round from sunrise to sunset. The car park has accessible spaces close to the main entrance. Maaseik is reached via the N78 along the Meuse and is an ideal starting point for other outings in the region, such as the Maaseik Animal and Aviary Park or Maaseik City Park.
