♿ Wheelchair accessible

The Town Hall of Damme is a historic building from 1464 in the heart of this medieval book village — an architectural monument in late-Gothic style with a striking stepped gable. The building houses the municipal civil affairs, spatial planning and reception services, and still serves as the official venue for wedding ceremonies.

For wheelchair users the main entrance via the historic staircase is NOT step-free. However, there is an accessible side entrance with a ramp that provides access to the main rooms. Inside, a lift is available for the upper floors. An accessible toilet is available. For specific appointments (for example a wedding ceremony) it is advisable to call ahead so staff can extra-secure the accessible flow and open the side entrance on arrival.

Reserved parking spaces are available on the Grote Markt. Combine your visit with the Public Library within walking distance or a city trip to Bruges — Damme lies about 5 km north of Bruges and is reachable by adapted bicycle transport or accessible taxi.
