Sterrebeek City Estate Flemish Ardennes
Sterrebeek City Estate is a small but especially atmospheric estate in the Flemish Ardennes, located on the flank of one of the characteristic hills of this region. The estate combines a castle park with an arboretum, a few meadows and a pond area. At the edge, a panoramic viewpoint offers a wide vista over the rolling farmland and cycling legends that have made this region world famous. The estate is open year-round and forms a peaceful oasis amid the busier walking areas of the Flemish Ardennes.
The main paths of the estate have been made specifically accessible. A circular walk of about 1.5 km runs entirely over firm semi-paved paths with limited gradient, so that wheelchair users can complete the route without a companion. Rest benches and a few information boards are placed at regular intervals along the route. The adapted toilet next to the car park is open during the high season (April to October).
The car park at the main entrance has two reserved PRM spaces. The city estate is reachable by De Lijn bus (line 90 from Oudenaarde). A visit to Sterrebeek combines excellently with a trip to the MOU Museum in Oudenaarde or the centre of Oudenaarde, which offers various accessible sights. Ideal for a quiet half-day in nature.
