Charleroi-Central Station
Charleroi-Central, known as Charleroi-Sud until 2022, is the most important station in Hainaut and a strategic hub for rail travellers in Wallonia. The station connects Charleroi with Brussels, Namur, Mons and the south of France. After a major renovation, the station building was completely modernised, with a more spacious and brighter passenger hall.
The renewed station is well suited to wheelchair users. All platforms can be reached via lifts and the main entrance is step-free. Adapted toilets are available in the central hall. The SNCB/NMBS Assistance service provides free support to and from the train, provided a reservation is made three hours in advance. The reception point for reduced-mobility travellers is located at the entrance.
The station is directly connected to the Charleroi metro (stops Sud and Parc), which is equipped with lifts at most stops. Adapted reduced-mobility parking spaces are available in front of the station, together with a taxi rank. The area around the station has recently been redesigned with wide pavements and a bridge over the Sambre that can easily be crossed on foot or by wheelchair towards the Ville Haute.
